It seems that time has taken its toll on the Australian bands of the 80′s, which unlike their US counterparts are unable to relentlessly tour their old material to cover private school fees and council rates. One of the often ignored topics is that the bands we loved from the late 70′s to early 90′s, are pretty much all broke and being forced to ‘sell-out’ in some way. Earlier in the year Status Quo took a pounding from fans for their involvement in the ‘Prices Are Down’ Campaign, there has also been constant bitterness and battling amongst members of The Church and now it looks as though Iva Davies, singer of Icehouse has had to try and leverage the bands career to sell some real-estate via a post on facebook (below). It certainly provides an eye-opener into the fact that only breaking the local market in your music career may mean capping your potential both now, and into your retirement. However, at what point do you sacrifice the legacy that you worked all your life to create just to purchase a new Winnebago? A tough call no doubt…
